Faith That Listens Before It Speaks
James writes to communities under pressure, and one of his first corrections is relational: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. This is not merely etiquette; it is spiritual formation.
A life that listens well is a life that can still be taught. Where pride dominates, conversation becomes performance. Where humility grows, the word of God can still take root and bear fruit.
Listening first is therefore not passivity. It is a disciplined refusal to let the flesh lead. It is the posture of a disciple who wants truth more than self-protection.
